'He was the go-to guy': Memorial services arranged for EFD Captain Jim Pauli - Evansville Courier & Press
Feb 24, 2019Funeral services have been arranged for Evansville Fire Capt. Jim Pauli, who died unexpectedly earlier this week. “It’s going to be a huge void for the department,” said EFD Division Chief Mike Larson. Pauli, 51, was an Evansville firefighter for most of his adult life. He joined the Evansville Fire Department in August 1990. Before EFD, Larson said, Pauli volunteered with the German Township Fire Department. “Great firefighter, took his job very seriously,” Larson said. “Very quick-witted, funny guy… but then when it was time to be serious, he was strictly business.” Pauli died Tuesday during a medical emergency and was survived by family including his wife and three children. Larson described him as not only a good firefighter but an “incredible family man.” He praised Pauli’s generosity and handyman skills, describing days when people would call Pauli for help fixing something, and he would show up with “a truck full of tools.” “He was a giver,” Larson said. “If you needed help, he could fix anything.” Pauli would never take payment for his help, according to Larson. “He was the go-to guy,” Larson said. “If he couldn’t do it, he knew somebody that could.” The funeral arrangements were shared with Evansvill...
